Which year is the toughest?

There is no toughest year in engineering. It's all about getting used to engineering life.

When we go to 1st year, after the 12th , the system of engineering is very new (i.e the rules, college hours, new place, subjects, lectures, language).  We don't know much about the environment and how it works and it is not our comfort zone at first. 

So, we tend to resist to new changes happening in our life. It becomes difficult to digest the new schedule and routine in college. And this is very normal and it is human tendency to resist.

This happening take away focus from studies and shift it into life and adjusting to the new environment(automatically studies become second concern after peace of mind and studies score reduce).

The subjects in the 1st year become difficult of it's new pattern of studying and writing answers, new methods of marks assessment, new engineering subjects, the system of internal and external exams. 

The second year is when you do branch entry, suddenly the subjects from engineering basics get to the core branch subjects. Some students again need time for this shift and cannot relate to subject with their imagination this becomes difficult.

The third year is when you get used to college environment, university style of study and also to the core subjects and you get blended into everything around you. It is the adjustment factor. You are also familiar with the lectures and kind of become friends and the gap between both is gone which makes it comfortable to ask for doubts and share the space in class. 

 The fourth year is when you are are comfortable with the environment, you know that engineering is gonna get over and I can do anything has a senior final year student, number of subjects is also less compared to other years, the core subjects are now your comfort zone and subject sometimes are repeated too, classes are fun, more focused on project. So it is the the easiest year of all.

So depending on how fast you are able to get up well in the environment that fast you are into comfort zone and performing well on all aspects of Engineering life.

1st year- adjusting takes time

2nd year- getting into core subjects

3rd year- okish kind of environment, you are ok with the flaws of surrounding.

4th year- easiest year as you are familiar with all aspects into comfortable zone itself.
